

Alexey Trifonov
Artistic Director of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin Artistic Director and Curator of the Strelka International Art Festival
Since 2001 he has been organizing concerts, musical and cultural events, including at the international festivals «Territory», Primavera Festival, Diaghilev Festival, Moscow Book Festival, Salzburg Festival, Bregenz Festival, Ruhrtriennale Festival. He has organized concerts and recordings of Mstislav Rostropovich, Theodoros Currentzis, Mikhail Pletnev, Andrei Gavrilov, Simone Kermes, David Geringas, Mikhail Lidsky, Nadezhda Pavlova, Denis Matsuev, Boris Andrianov and other renowned musicians. He represented Russia on the jury of the European MIDEM Classical Awards. He is currently the Artistic Director of the Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin, as well as the Artistic Director and Curator of the Strelka International Arts Festival. Under Alexey’s direction, the Nizhny Novgorod Opera and Ballet Theater took part for the first time in the Tongyeong International Music Festival in South Korea, and in October 2022 the La Voce Strumentale orchestra triumphantly toured the Berlin Philharmonic. In 2022, the theater premiered Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice and Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades. In November 2022, the world premiere of the ballet «Terezin. Quartet» took place, four one act ballets staged by renowned Russian choreographers to the music of composers — prisoners of the Nazi concentration camps. In March 2023, the Nizhny Novgorod Opera, directed by Alexei Trifonov, premiered Carmen directed by Lisa Moroz and received enthusiastic reviews both from critics in Moscow and from spectators who came to the premiere from all over Russia.
