Alexander Bychenko

Director of the Museum of Urban Life, founder of the ALTES HAUS museum, entrepreneur, collector, and local historian

Age: 52 years.

Sphere: Museums, galleries, and creative clusters

Alexander has been working on projects in the culture field and museum business for seven years. And all of them are successful, popular, and recognized both in the professional community and among Kaliningrad citizens and tourists. The Altes Haus Museum ranks first among the museums of Kaliningrad and fourth among the attractions in the region in the rating of the service www.tripadvisor.ru.

Another of Alexander’s projects, the Soviet-era Kaliningrad Museum Whaler’s House, is an absolutely unique place. A place of memory of Soviet Kaliningrad in the form of a communal apartment, where the image of a Soviet family, the head of which is a sailor, is collected. The memory and objects of that era live here; many people can recognize things from their childhood and feel at home there. The project was a winner of competitions of the Potanin Charitable Foundation Museum Landing — 2016 in the category «Invitation of museum teams» and Museum 4.0 — 2018 in the category «Technologies and Tools».

Co-organizer of the Islands children’s museum festival, in which the teams, led by guest curators from around the world, learn hands-on techniques for in-game museum itineraries and develop amazing and unique themed guides to their museum’s exhibits.
