Nikandr Galkin
Decorative Artist, Craftsman
Nikandr has been interested in graffiti and street art in general since he was a kid. Sometimes you can see that his hobbies influence his art. He tends to combine tradition and modernity — some of his works are more traditional than others. Nikandr has been practicing artistic carving for 12 years, including 6 year of carving wooden toys. He studied at the Abramtsevo Art and Industrial College named after V. Vasnetsov. «I practice my craft on the foundation of traditions. The simplicity of the form and the deep meaning of the images were influenced by the Panki doll, an ancient wooden toy from Russia, and mixed it with the Russian-style carvings from Abramtsevo. Abramtsevo workshops are one of the places of origin of the Russian Art Nouveau», says Nikandr.
