Largest museum and exhibition site for contemporary art in Siberia
Ploshchad Mira Museum Center is the largest museum and exhibition site for contemporary art in Siberia. The exhibition area consists of 5000 m2, which was achieved by adding technical corridors to exhibition spaces. Museum Center holds more than 30 exhibitions annually. They include presentations of its collection of contemporary art, collaborations with major Russian and foreign museums and galleries; partnerships with artists and foundations. The collection of contemporary art consists of more than 2 thousand artworks, including pieces by Valery Koshlyakov, Alexander Brodsky, Alexander Avvakumov, Leonid Tishkov, Timur Novikov, Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe and other artists. Since 1995, the museum holds the Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennial — the oldest biennale in Russia. Since 2002, the Museum Night festival is held twice a year. The Museum Center was nominated by the European Museum Forum (EMF) for the European Museum of the Year (EMYA) award in 2019, it was the first in Russia to receive The Council of Europe Museum Prize in 1998. Ploshchad Mira became the first Russian museum to be nominated for the European Museum Academy (EMA) award in 2019, and was included in the list of finalists among the 4 best museums. The VIII Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale Dal, curated by Sergey Kovalevsky, was awarded the State Prize in the field of contemporary art Innovation-2010 in the Regional Project nomination.
