Roman Zhukarin

Director of the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum

Roman develops the museum industry of the city. Under his direction, the space of the former exhibition complex was used for the permanent exhibition «Russian Art of the 20th Century», and a unique exhibition «Nebesnyi Nizhnii» was opened in the renovated Manege. The collection of the museum includes 12.5 thousand exhibits from all the main movements of Western European and Russain art, including some of the most iconic works of art in the world. The classical museum does not give up on digital projects and innovations. Visitors can use VR technologies for better immersion: listen to the artist, touch the artifacts that are depicted in the picture, learn more about them. Each gallery is equipped with high-quality lighting that prevents glare on the paintings, which are hung at a standard gallery height. In 2022, Roman was named «Man of the Year in Sociocultural Projects» by Delovoy Kvartal magazine.
